KOSMOS: UNIVERSITY Uniforms Concept Art
On KOSMOS, a multimedia worldbuilding project, I was tasked with designing and illustrating various uniforms for the students of a central location, Kaskadara University.
We were primarily inspired by hakama, a traditional Japanese variety of legwear. I was equally drawn to the toggle clasps of Mongolian deels, the proportions of classic American workwear, and the legwraps and upward-curved shoes worn by many Vikings.
It was a satisfying challenge to blend these disparate influences in a way that felt natural, versatile, and harmonious.

Scholars' Livery
Blending an academic dignity with Kaskadaran tradition, the Scholars' Livery is the most recognizable uniform of the student body.
Made from a sturdy canvas with herringbone embroidery, the jacket and interchangeable kilt and trousers are designed for durability and elegance.
The uniform is typically worn with the scholars' boots and netherstocks, but when outdoors, it is often paired with the voyagers' boots and legwraps.

Voyagers' Garb
Lending versatility and durability to traditional design, the Voyagers' Garb is worn to weather Kaskadara's natural world.
The garments, cut from thick-wale wool corduroy and reinforced with suede leather, can be adjusted to provide varying degrees of protection and temperature regulation amid nature's elements.
When the trousers are worn as shorts, the voyagers' boots are paired with legwraps, to avoid intrusive debris.

Artificers' Dress
The Artificers' Dress provides comfort and durability to workers of various disciplines.
Made from thick-wale wool corduroy and suede leather, the garments contain spacious but minimal pockets, as they tend to be paired with tool belts, aprons, and other gear specific to a student's chosen craft.
Prioritizing flexibility, the artificers' shoes divide the toes and keep the wearer closer to the ground than sturdy-soled boots do. Easy to put on and exceedingly comfortable, they are often worn by students of all disciplines.

LIGHT VESTURE
The Light Vesture is a breathable uniform, worn primarily during hot and bright months.
Cut from linen and accented with suede leather, the adjustable overshirt and kilt shield the wearer's body to the thigh or knee. The legs are often covered by legwraps or netherstocks.

Study Habit
The Study Habit is a collection of garments typically worn when comfort is desired, such as evening leisure or lamplight study.
A ribbed cotton tunic is designed to be worn with a fold-over necktie and paired with a cable-knit wool jumper. Spacious trousers or an interchangeable skirt comfort the legs with a blend of soft wool and linen.
